Art by nature, and Micki

Pressed Flower Art. It's simple. Nature provides the medium, I just help preserve it's beauty.

" N Art" is so I can include my other creative adventures from time to time.

Pressed Flower Jewelry

This week I experimented with different ways to use resin to make these "flower gems". These were made using real hydrangea, daisy, columbine, pansy and fern that were pressed before being turned into necklaces.

More to follow!

Fairy Dust

So, I am taking a class this month to learn paper marbling. I created a few sheets last weekend. It gave me the itch to create a piece with my flowers. The result is this picture. Just a simple piece of work, that was fun to do and inspired by the marbled papers I made. Hoping to do more soon. Micki

So all of those hydrangea...

So all of those hydrangea I pressed are ready to come out of the presses and get stored for some future artwork. Before packing them away I took some time to make these simple cards.

What's Pressing....

Mega pressing this weekend. Loads of hydrangeas provided by a friend and a coworker. The blues are needed for many of my backgrounds. They make beautiful skies. The hydrangea are time consuming to press. Each flower has to be done individually if I plan to use them as backgrounds. Sometimes I leave small clusters together for arrangemenmts.

I've also collected some rudbeckia, verbena and a variety of cosmos from my own garden.

During the summer months, it's hard to find time to create when trying to catch all of the flowers at their best time for pressing.

But I am feeling inspired by all of the flowers I have been working with this past weekend.

Happy Beginnings

Since this is where my art begins, and many of my days end, I thought I would share my garden photos, for my first post.

All of the wonderful colors you see are my "paints" in creating pictures, cards, jewelry and more.
